Marquette Neighborhood Home
Winner of NARI Madison's 2025 Remodeler of the Year Award
A Madison, WI screened-in porch addition in the Third Lake Ridge Historic District - part of the Marquette Neighborhood.
The homeowners wanted a comfortable spot for indoor-outdoor living. The only potential spot for a porch was the flat rubber roof above their garage, which wasn’t built for gathering, relaxing, or enjoying the view.
They dreamed of turning that unused roof into a comfortable screened-in porch that felt like a natural extension of their home. They envisioned a space for morning coffee, entertaining and relaxing outdoors, especially in Madison summers.
We added a durable screened-in porch for shaded outdoor living; an open, sunny side deck; and a spiral staircase for backyard access. We blended the new design with the home’s original 1930s character.
Because of tight lot lines and strict historic district rules in their historic Madison neighborhood, this project required special approvals from both city zoning and the landmarks commission. We navigated several obstacles for our client, and the end result was worth every step.
Our clients now have a timeless, functional, and beautiful porch addition that feels like it’s always been part of the home.
