With Chads Design Build, you don’t have to juggle multiple contractors for your remodeling project. As a full-service design-build remodeling company in Madison, WI, we manage your entire project - from architectural designs to final construction to warranty check-ups. Our integrated team of designers, architects, and carpenters works together and with you to deliver clear communication, accurate planning, and exceptional craftsmanship every step of the way.
1. Initial Conversation
We want you to feel comfortable with us and your project every step of the way. Every successful remodel starts with understanding your home and how you live in it.
Initially, we will discuss your project and investment expectations over the phone. We’ll talk about your ideas for your space, what’s working, what isn’t, and how a remodel could make your home more functional, comfortable, and enjoyable.
If we’re a good fit for each other, we’ll visit your home to discuss your ideas, investment range, and timeline. You’ll receive a broad cost range for your project and a clear sense of what’s possible. Then we’ll move into the next phase - the project development agreement (PDA) - where our team begins developing your personalized plan and detailed proposal.
3. Finalize Scope and Selections: Collaborative Design
In the selections phase, we will work with you to finalize design concepts, refine layouts and select materials and finishes. At the end of this process, you’ll have full design concepts and a more detailed cost estimate
4. The Remodeling Process Begins
When you’re comfortable with the developed project, we’ll move forward with a remodeling contract and deposit. We’ll schedule a start date and finalize construction details. You’ll receive a final, fixed-price proposal which includes a payment schedule, production schedule, and design plans.
Our team will then secure all required engineering, zoning, and building permits. For homes located in Madison’s historic districts, we also manage the landmarks approval process, ensuring your project meets all local requirements while preserving the character of your home.
5. Construction and Communication
As your construction start date approaches, we’ll meet with you to talk about construction logistics and to help you prepare for the project.
Once construction begins, our goal is to make the process organized, predictable, and stress-free. We use secure project management software that allows you to view schedules, progress photos, and updates anytime - and communicate directly with our team. You’ll always know what’s happening and what’s next.

6. Completion and Follow Up
When your remodel is complete, we’ll walk through the finished space together to ensure every detail meets your expectations. Our commitment to craftsmanship, integrity, and lasting relationships continues long after the final walkthrough. All of our projects are backed by our 3-year warranty.
