This front porch addition in Madison created an inviting protected entryway that also provided the homeowners with additional seating space. The half wall around the additional porch space added a semi-private area for socializing, while still providing a connection to passing neighbors on the street. The roof features two skylights to provide even more natural light, and the barrel vault above the front door completes the design by accentuating the sunburst over the door.

Additions like this one take advantage of Madison’s newer zoning ordinance which allows front porches to encroach an additional seven feet toward the front sidewalk, thereby encouraging more neighborhood socializing.
